Understanding Mental Health Promotion Services

Mental health promotion services include psychological support, prevention tools, and treatments to improve people's mental wellbeing. They can be particularly useful for people with disabilities recently arrived in Canada, who may be struggling with their new environment, isolation, and linguistic barriers.

For instance, a service-providing centre may provide therapy sessions to a newcomer coping with anxiety. Or organize support groups for persons who use a wheelchair and who are experiencing difficulties with social integration. These services build resiliency, support integration, and improve quality of life.
