What to do in an emergency?
In case of an emergency, you can dial 811 (for health information) or 911 (in case of a life-threatening emergency). Both numbers are available across the country. Normally, they have operators that can respond in English or French.
However, for full access to health services in Canada, you must have a public or private health insurance card. Please refer to the “Applying for a Public Health Insurance Card and Applying for a Private Health Insurance Card”sections or you can use the search option.

If you are denied service or experience discrimination, you can contact one of the Disability Rights Advocacy Organizations or Legal Clinics listed under “Additional Services”. Alternatively, report the situation through our report form and our team will follow up with you.
